BD Diesel
This performance-built transmission is engineered to handle up to 300% more power and torque than stock while significantly improving drivetrain durability. It features all-new bushings, a redesigned valve body, revised oil circuits, and a fully rollerized geartrain to reduce friction and increase reliability.
Stock thrust washers are replaced with roller Torrington bearings to protect governor solenoids, while a drilled intermediate shaft and modified manual valve ensure proper lubrication in all gear positions. 47RE units are upgraded with stronger 48RE components, including new input shafts and hub assemblies, and upgraded governor solenoids and pressure transducers for improved hydraulic control and durability.
Clutch capacity is increased with heavy-duty clutches offering up to 25% more friction material, machined pressure plates and pistons, a high-temperature Raybestos band, and billet band and accumulator components. Up to 80% higher clutch apply pressure delivers firm, consistent shifts at lower RPM and lighter throttle input—eliminating shuttle shifting.
Cooling and strength are enhanced with a BD rigid aluminum heavy-duty transmission pan, which adds 1 quart of fluid capacity, reduces case flex and internal leakage, and features cooling fins and a magnetic drain plug. Additional protection includes a cooler line case saver and a BD auxiliary full-flow filter kit.
Clutch counts include Forward (5), Direct (6), Overdrive (6), and Overdrive Direct (10), making this transmission a proven solution for high-power diesel applications.
